Acupuncture

Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) includes acupuncture and medicinal herbs. Acupuncture is used to relieve pain and heal injury — and can be helpful in the treatment of emotional issues.

Acupuncture is one of the most time-tested treatments known to mankind. If the value of a treatment were based solely on how long it has been around, and how long people have thought that it was helpful, then acupuncture would probably be the most effective treatment known to humankind. Acupuncture, a safe alternative to pain medication.

Acupuncture is used worldwide for the treatment of pain because it is safe and proven effective. In America, the typical treatment for pain is pharmaceutical. And this has now become an epidemic problem. While United States citizens make up only 5% of the world's population, we consume 80% of the world's pain medications. In America between 1991 and 2010, prescriptions for pain medications increased from 30 million to 180 million, a 600% increase. Sales of opiates such as Percocet® Vicodin® and OxyContin® have skyrocketed, and deaths from overdoses have tripled during the past decade.

How long does an acupuncture treatment take to work?

Most patients feel beneficial results within 2 - 10 treatments. Response to treatment depends on the individual, the seriousness of teh health condition. The number of treatments can vary (usually 2 - 10 visits are adequate).

  • Acute conditions generally require less treatments than chronic conditions.
  • Each acupuncture session builds on the previous one, to gradually restore health.
  • For best results, it is important to receive your follow-up treatment before symptoms return to their original intensity.
